About Ariana, the Vocal Instructor.

Ariana obtained her Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance from Western Connecticut State University in 2023. Ariana believes the best voice teachers actively participate in their practice through performance and continued learning. And that is exactly what she does! As an active performer, she is better able to navigate the current singer's industry for her students.
Ariana began teaching voice in 2020 in the face of the Pandemic. The music-learning community faced several challenges during this time such as how to conduct virtual lessons. It was during this time, Ariana found the many benefits of educating virtually. An obvious advantage is the ability to meet from the comfort of their your own space without a need to combine driving into your time commitment. Articulation over demonstration is an overlooked benefit of virtual lessons. Students (as well as their teachers) learn valuable communication skills when it comes to understanding concepts, question-response prompts, and relaying information. In other words: tell me how vs. show me how. It is also for this reason that virtual lessons are not a match for every student.
Ariana has an extensive background in musical theatre repertoire, her first passion. Ariana's childhood was spent listening to the Great American Songbook within movie musicals prompting a regard for American Jazz. It was in college, she unexpectedly found a love for classical music and opera. Ariana has sung for companies including the Opera Theatre of Connecticut, Troupers Light Opera, Seven Angels Theatre, Downtown Cabaret Theatre, and Newbury Musical Theatre Company. Ariana stresses the importance of cross-training musical genres in her own practice as well as her teaching. Ariana teaches a foundation of basic singing principles so students can learn how to operate their voice in a way that is stylistically appropriate, authentic to themselves, and healthy.
